Auto Hold Question

I noted the same issue and wondered if it's a time out scenario, so I read the manual... It's totally when you reposition yourself in the seat, if you lift up for even a moment the light will go red.

I just noticed it today as well. I tried it 4 or 5 times. Even if you don't completely raise yourself off the seat, the light turns red. I'm glad to see there's nothing wrong because now I don't have to go to the dealer. Thanks everyone.

Its definitely the system detecting no driver in the driver's seat. I have done this on numerous occasions. I would have the "Auto Hold" feature on while in traffic, reach for an item in the back seat or reach for an item on the passenger floor, traffic would start to move, I would position myself back in my seat, press on the throttle and get the "chime" "parking brake activated". So I would have to deactivate the parking brake then resume driving. I have tested this out several times and this is definitely what my issue was. Stay seated and this should solve the issue. Great safety feature though. Hope this helps...

For those who didn't know about this, it would definitely be a safety issue. You reach for something in the back, trusting that the car would stay put, and you find your car bumping into the back of the vehicle in front.

I know it's been a while since the last post on this topic but I have had my E70 3.0 for a couple of months and have found the Hold Button issue a bit annoying. It switches over to Park every so often - quite unexpectadly - much to my embarrasment! I only have to move slightly in the seat, possible to look over at the kids in the back seat or to grab something from the glove box and it switches to park. It has been back to the dealer who didn't mention about the sensors in the seat and once I mentioed it to them they took a look at it and pronoinced it normal. I can understand the safety aspect but it just seems to be set way too sensitive.

Do you find autohold helpful in an everyday sense? As I mentioned above, it takes more effort to use it than not in my opinion.

I do yeah - use it every day, I usually turn it on as soon as I hop in and only turn it off when I'm about to park. I only wish it had a steering wheel button or was in a better place.

Surely you dont expect the dealer to know much about the product

I love the autohold feature as my daily commute contains lotz of slow moving traffic / traffic jams and this feature is just perfect in this stop & go stuff.
