OK, I am going to write this very nicely, because I don't want to offend you. Please don't justify cross-posting. It is bad netiquette to post multiple copies of the same thread. Doesn't matter if you post in multiple forums on X5World, or post simultaneously on X5World, Bimmerfest, etc. Many of us read more than one forum. If someone doesn't want to read all the forums here or on the web in general, fine, no problem. We will miss something that way. That's just life. On X5World, however, many of us come in through the 'new threads' page here, and we are confronted with four identical threads. The forum they are in is irrelevant, we don't access the forum that way.

I do respect your enthusiasm. Have a great day.

In certain circumstances it's considered bad netiquette to post the same thing in more than one place. It's incorrect to say "It is bad netiquette to post multiple copies of the same thread." because it's not necessarily true.

If it's against this site's rules, then fair enough. If it's not, then please don't attempt to push your point of view as though it should be everyone else's by using loaded phrases such as "Please don't justify cross-posting.", "It is bad netiquette to post multiple copies of the same thread." and "we are confronted with four identical threads".

I have posted 100's of original content pic's to this forum over the last year and a half. The subject matter regarding the BMW Plant Expansion is the FIRST item I've chosen to post at multiple "X" Forums. It is a matter that impacts all the "X"'s built at the SC Plant. It's a posting that MIGHT occur 3 or 4 times annually ( 1 year) MAX...as the Plant construction progresses. And when the Plant construction is over.... then the multi "X" Forum postings are over.It would appear from the tone of your post that it is something I've done everyday. I'm sorry that some people must endure (horrors!!) looking at multiple threads on a BMW Forum 3 or 4 times a year.I wish that was all I had to worry over in my life.PalBay

I agree with your first premise. It isn't always bad form. We could debate cross posting vs multi posting, and whether X5World is one forum or many, but the fact remains that for those of us who read all the forums on this one site, we are subjected to multiple posts. It is just annoying. It certainly isn't the end of the world, just a pain. It paints Palbay as an amateur, albeit well-intentioned, and maybe nobody has ever told him.

If we want to debate the site rules, I will let an Admin lead that. A couple of us politely suggested that we don't need four identical posts. If we want to encourage it (as you did in your earlier post) then fine, carry on. I am sure Jeff and Drex don't mind paying the bandwidth for four sets of photos. Yes, the phrases were loaded. So was that last one.

I have no interest in starting a war over this. Yes, you have posted lots of pics. I have seen people thank you for that, so I am sure it is appreciated by many members and guests. Personally, I think the X6 is embarassing, but that is irrelevant here. The plant is interesting.

All I was suggesting is that it isn't a good idea to post in multiple forums. I hadn't seen you do it before. I am not attacking you.

Now, how many responses did you get in the other three forums you posted this in? Zero in each of them, last time I checked. Maybe that tells you more than my post. The negative to multiple posting is that we can't have a conversation. There would be four conversations. That does not help build community. One thread contains all the thoughts that people want to contribute. If you want to post in multiple forums, you could go to each secondary forum and put a short note steering people to your original thread. Same effect, catch all the fish in the net, but consolidate all the discussion.

Please take a breath. Meanwhile, maybe we should have a poll on four copies of the same thread? PS: That was levity.

Have a great day.

Palbay,

You're not the first to hear it about cross posting. It's an annoyance we have ask a number of people not to promulgate.

As much as you believe your serving the greater good it actually does nothing to accomplish that. So please accept our kind admonition and PLEASE refrain from doing it.

Thanks

At least me and JCL for sure.
But in reality, I'm just a senior citizen
with some kind advice.

I agree 100%

I certainly appreciate it having being posted on the forum which I frequently monitor. I rarely go to the E83 forum, never to the E53 or the Lounge, so otherwise I'd have missed out on your interesting pics.

For those who get annoyed by it, the thread is clearly identifiable by its subject matter, do yourselves a favour and simply don't click - not a big deal IMO.
