Got nannied again

So I run to the gas station this morning to pick up a gallon of milk. Get back in and drive off. The seatbelt idiot light is on and the X5 is merrily binging to tell me I've forgotten my seatbelt. Look down, nope, not me. Mine is on. Reach over and pick up the milk and the binging stops. Put it back down on the passenger seat and it starts again.

Gotta be a way to turn that off. That's irritating.

that is smart ! The seat does not know a difference between a gallon of milk and an infant's seat....

People actually put infant seats in the front seat of an X5. Gotta wonder who thinks that's a good idea somehow.

Milk only goes on rubber matt on the back seat floor.

A gallon of milk is that heavy? I've had quite a bit of stuff in the passenger seat like a pizza box and some fast foods all at the same time and it never bugged me.

Yeah, roughly 8 to 8.5 pounds for a gallon.

FirstBMW, if you lay the gallon down on its side in the seat with the handle in the crack it doesn't slide around like it does on the floor in the back when cornering.

I hear you. I went out to play with it a bit more. My laptop bag sets it off, gymbag, etc. My wife's purse however, is just light enough to not set it off. Luckily, it's her car, so I don't have to deal with it often. If my truck did that, something would get ripped out.

It's a nice idea that the weight sensor determines the deployment of the airbag and the force used for inflation, but tying that in to the seatbelt alarm at such a ridiculously low weight doesn't make much sense to me.
