Question regarding displaying PDC/Rear camera together

I have an issue, I saw in one of these threads a picture of an X5 display showing the rear view camera in the main screen and the PDC on the assist screen.

Now it does not make sense that if I have both features I cannot see them on main screen and assist screens together. Maintenance guy said that feature might not be available even with a software update. Is that true?

Thanks

The ability to see the PDC and the camera only became available with the newer iDrive version. If you update to the newest iDrive version, you should be able to view both on the same screen.

slight OT: there should be a forum requirement that tells us what vehicle & year you have and lists it next to the username.

In this case, if it's an '07 it's likely you never had it updated and that is why.

Not having this makes it so much more difficult when answering questions. There is the SAV information tab, but it is not mandatory on the forum.

Yes it is an 07, just changed it thanks for pointing that out. I guess I have to talk to the service center again, as he pointed out that they were not required to do updates unless something is broken and they do not do it as a curtsy.

They also mentioned that, it might not be a feature in the hardware of the car, well that doesnt make sense if I have both features, I do not understand why they would tell me a software fix wouldn't solve the problem. They even said a software update will not be done unless something is broken.

Once they stopped their rate the service guy survey they had become a little bit careless.

It is software update only...has nothing to do with hardware. Your service advisor is an idiot.

If you do a search you can find several items to complain about that require a software update to fix.

1. does your rear hatch "soft-close" work?
2. Does your nav system show turn by turn in the right side of the display?

these are just a few of the complaints that would require a software update, there are many more.

1. Soft close does not work! thank you for pointing that out I always hated closing the hatch didnt realize that was a feature on there.

2. yes nav system shows turn by turn on assist screen while main screen shows map.

Do the regular doors have soft close or just rear hatch?
