Tinting X5's panoramic sunroof, possible?

This may be a dumb question, but is it possible to tint the panoramic sunroof when I'm tinting the windows? I'll be tinting the windows with Huper Optik Ceramic 20 all around, it will look awesome!! Thanks.

Sure you can tint the roof. It's an easy job. I wish BMW made it darker from the factory so we would not have to tint. GO FOR IT! you'll love it.

I've heard if you live in very hot climates, ie Florida, Nevada, etc....it may not be wise to tint your sun roof. The heat created from the tint may make the sun roof crack.

There may be some truth to this. I just got my car tinted with Huper Optiks (60 fronts/ 40 rear / 30 sunroof). It does a great job with heat rejection. But when I put my arm finger's length to the window, I can feel some heat that seems stored in window (not from the sunlight itself). But tinted the sunroof anyways because California is never that bad.

I did see the install. They just tilt the sunroof up and do each piece that way.

I actually wish I did the 30's on the rear too. The 40's on top of the BMW rear climate package tint still isn't very dark.

mtech8, can you see the inside of X5 from outside through the 40? I'm wondering about the level of privacy it provides.

I'm starting to think 20 might be too dark for my taste. I haven't done the tint yet but, but I'm in the middle of choosing between 30 and 40 for my windows.

It probably would be wise to make sure a sputtered metallic film is used, rather than a stright dye film, to minimize the heat transfered to the glass, e.g., highly reflective film.

Yes, you can see in. Not enough to make out details of a person face. But enough to see the outline of a person. Knowing what I know now, I would opt for the 30's instead.
