sevice warning light

I have a 20008 x-5 3.0. I had my 10,000 mile sevice 1,200 miles ago and in service messages I get that my next service should be in 3-2010 but says in 1,000 miles what's up

as the computer has no idea how many miles you drive in a day it figures worst case scenario. currently my next oil change is due in 1500 miles or 12/2009. the mileage figure will flucuate in my experience.
