Just go to your local autozone or equivalent and have them read the code or you could buy a peake reader

The latest scan tools don't all work on '06 - later cars.

If the code is there, you need to go to autozone, etc and have it reset. It's very simple.

You have 4 years free maintenance - I would go to the dealer rather than going to Autozone. You can also get anything else fixed while you are there.

OBD systems are universal per the law, so a $30 scanner is going to do the same thing (and as easily) as a $10,000 BMW tool as far as reading and clearing the code goes. Difference is that you'll need an appointment with the dealer. It's your car and hence your call. Good luck.

According to the manual, thats exactly what happened...just no info on how to reset it. Its no big deal, it can wait for the delaer to reset, just thought I was missing somthing.
BTW- The employee thought he was doing me a favor, no real harm done...he didnt realize premium was required. Its the first tank of Regular fuel in 22k miles.

It will be interesting to see what the dealer says. I still don't understand what your check engine light has to do with using a fuel that meets the minimum AKI (which is 87, regular, according to the US/CA 2007 E70 owner's manual). It could have been bad quality fuel, sure, but that could happen whether it was regular or premium.

Does your manual say something about using regular fuel being a cause of the Check Engine light coming on?

The CEL is on but I have no warnings in the check systems area...actually it says all systems ok when I run the check and there are no system errors...just a light on. I just put my 3rd full tank of Premium since this happened and no reset.

Once the cel is on, I don't think it's going to reset itself. In most vehicles, it has to be manualy reset.
