door panel removal???

hope you all had a great new year!!

anyone with documentation on removing the front and rear door panels of this particular model? i'm looking to upgrade the stock speakers over the weekend but don't want to break or trigger any sensors in the process...

i need a good idea of where the clips and screws are located...

i also have some concerns about the the airbags...(are they wired to the panels??)

i can always take it to a local autosound place to have them do the work but if they haven't worked in this model before they'll also be learning as they go but this time at my expense...

I also checked w/BSW and they don't seem to have anything either...

anyone???

awesome man!!! great work!!

i have two options which i want to experiment with...

I have a set of Mb quart dkg 110 speakers and a set of Polk Audio db401 speakers...

not looking to upgrade the amp at this time... and i'm not looking to install larger diameter speakers that require cutting of the door frame..

a simple speaker upgrade using the stock sound system should be more than enough..

i'll let you know how it sounds...

thanks again!!!

also noticed on the guide that i have to replace the door panel clips...

seems like they break off and aren't reusable... looks like i'll need to order these items before getting strated on my weekend project...

guess it's another trip to the dealer!!!

curious... are these clips specific to the X5 or are they similar to the once offered online for other BMW makes???

Hey Jamesboags!

I'd like to thank you for posting this information as well! It really comes in handy being able to visualize everything. I have a question..... Do you really need to get the special tools recommended for the door panel removal and door handle cover removal? It looks like a pretty basic shop tool, almost like a plastic putty knife. I doubt my dealer would have, or know how to order the parts (not a whole lot of faith in them), and they're the only dealer within 400 miles!
