Diesel?

I thought that the 3.0D or 3.5D were in the plan for '08. Maybe it will be an '08 1/2 option.

^ I really wish there were confirmation for a mid-year model one way or the other so I could decide to buy now or wait for it. It'd be in their best interests too since not everyone wants to or can wait a full year.

My dealer in the Bay Area told me the rumors were correct and there would be a diesel X5 in March, 08. I'm waiting patiently for that.

I think late summer/early fall will be an active time for the X5/X6. The twin turbo is due to be released and I hear that the launch of the TT engine in the X5 will be close to the launch in the X6. Not sure about the US diesel or turbo diesel; but others are saying that may come sooner than August 2008.

Same here. We need to replace my wife's E53 ASAP and would be willing to wait 'till Spring or Summer of 2008 for the 3.0sd TT if they would just release the information now. But somehow I'm not holding my breath for that.....let's see, the 2008's started production last week and we still don't have all the info/pricing, let alone a model that may or may not come out in the Spring or later.

Hey, Super ("Duper") Greg and everyone else, I'd like your thoughts on the Premium sound package. Is it worth getting it? I know that there's a still debate about the type of functionality the dvd changer will have. But since I'm getting the iPod adapter, that's not too much my concern.

I'd like to know if you think the sound quality is worth the price of the premium sound system. I just orded my car that way, but can still make changes to the order.

Thanks!

I have not heard it myself, so I'll let someone else chime in on this one, but IMO it is still WAY overpriced.

The Canadian ordering guide had this description of the Premium Sound Package (ZAR) "an entirely new package designed to provide the ultimate
audio experience for drivers and passengers of the BMW X5. The package includes the 16-Speaker HiFi Sound System Professional (with 2 subwoofers), USB Audio Integration and a new 6-Disc Multi-Media Changer which represents an evolution of the CD-Changer. It is identical in size and location (glove-box mounted), but provides a marked improvement in functionality as it supports a greater range of media formats, including DVD audio."

As much as I like my "premium" audio, this package is not worth it to me as I do not want DVD player for rear and I think I can live without what sounds like 4 additional speakers and an extra 350 or 400 watts of power from the amp.
