What's the deepest water your E53 has gone through?

No I don't plan to ford any rivers to cross into the US!

But with the unpredictable rains we are getting and occasional storm-sewer overflowing some roads I go through sometimes flood.

So is 1 foot of standing water safe? 2 feet I make a u-turn?

Driving through water

Do not drive through water on the road if it is deeper than 20 in/50 cm, and then only at walking speed at the most. Otherwise, the vehicle's engine, the electrical systems and the transmission may be damaged. When equipped with 2-axle self leveling suspension*, switch the vehicle into the Off-Road setting before driving through, refer to page 100.

We've done 1 foot several times and maybe a 2 footer once...
the X didn't blink. Not rec'd, but standing water, at very creep-like
speed, up to a couple of feet, should be no problem, imo.

We've also plowed through 100 yd "lakes" on the interstate with
very lil' hydroplanning and the ol'X just keeps on trucking.

Moving water is a very different situ; the force of even a couple
of feet of moving water is enormous and I wouldn't try it.

The biggest threat is the electronics getting wet and shorting. Don't have to worry about hydrolocking until the water gets pretty high, since the intake piping starts above the radiator.

I love it when someone reads their manual. What could be more accurate.
