struts fitment

I don't know if this is an obvious stupid question but in the search to save some $$ i would like to know if the struts from a 2007 x5 would fit a 2001 x5. i did a search and could not come up with anything. i know the part numbers are different but you never know. can you help me out? thanks

No luck on that fitment... even though it would be great to get EDC on an E53...
