Has anyone tried going to a "trailer hitch" shop and had one made to fit the E53? It has got to be cheaper than OEM, and I imagine it will fit just as good, 98% of the hitch is hidden anyway... I was starting to look into this for my X5, but it was just easier to use my other truck for towing the jetskis.

I have some square tube at home the correct size and gauge for making a hitch, and was considering trying this myself. As I am fairly good with cutting/welding/fabricating metal I feel I could make a better hitch than the aftermarket ones. But luckily enough for me, I am jumping on varun's hitch.

Well now ya got me thinking I might just need to bust out the old Lincoln buzz box, and try and fab one up... If I got the right tubing still, I'll take some pics and show the results, unless my welding skills have declined, then I might need to make the pics a bit fuzzy ![]() |
