Thumbs up Just Finished Installing an X-Pipe on My 4.8is

So I just got back from the shop where they cut out my stock resonator and installed a magnaflow 2.25" X-Pipe...All I can say is

Absolutely awesome sound coming out of this beast now! Myself and 4 other mechanics were standing at the back of the truck when it was first started up and we all jumped a little...the little throttle blip when you start the car now sounds so f&$king awesome. No change in sound at idle, but open it up and it sounds freaking sick, just mean, and I love it!

So if you have a 4.8is and havent done this $160 mod(including parts and labor!) you are seriously missing the boat...I was thinking about buying a full exhaust but have since changed my mind, this is perfect...No drone at highway speed at all...the only difference comes at start up and when you push the gas to the floor

I'm affraid that my gas mileage is going to drop drastically because of this little modification! Lol...If you live in the Southbay and need a shop to do it for you, PM me and I'll send you the address of the place that just did it for me...$80 for the labor

Bought the pipe here...received it in 2 days!

I was supposed to do this on my 4.6 last saturday, but the shop closed early for that damn hurricane... But I will do it soon, and plan on adding QTP electric cutouts with turndowns after that, just for when I want that extra growl!

I will post sound clip or video after done

I hate to crash the V8 party, but I wonder if this retrofit can be done to the X5 3.0? . I also retrofitted a 2005 4.4i exhaust into my 3.0. Looks a heck of a lot better.

It can be done all the same, and you already have that V8 look with the 4.4i exhaust.... but you can never have that V8 growl!!! HAHAHA!!!

rvancil, could you PM me the place who did it for you? Do you have pictures of how they welded the pipes, etc?

Maybe we can meet up on of these weekends at the muffler shop. I don't imagine it taking too long to do?

Thanks.
