Oh yea, start to finish they did it in less than an hour...And when you pull in they don't look like a typical muffler shop, they actually specialize in welding roll cages into race cars...haha

so is 2.25" the right size, or can you go bigger for a louder rumble?

I can't imagine the sound would change much from 2.25"-2.5" but then again I've never compared them back to back...using the 2.25" size just made it really easy for the shop to weld in to the stock system. In my opinion, the amount of increase in sound is just perfect...at WOT it actually sounds really deep and a little raspy...almost like a big brother to my M3 engine...which I love!

I went with 2.5 inch. I was very happy with mine.

I had a thread on here someplace, Please note: we did have one X5 owner notice a loss in power. This was however a 4.4. I also think he ran a 2.25 pipe.

I still am glad you like it, I love mine. Also it sounds even BETTER after 2000 miles.

No noticeable power loss with my 4.4i. Perhaps this is the thread you mentioned? http://www.x5world.com/x5-e53-forum/...ipe+loss+power

Yes I think that was the one.

Here was my thread on the X-pipe. I think it's a GREAT low cost mod.
