2004 X5 and Bluetooth

I bought my X used and assumed it did not have Bluetooth. (early 04 build X5, standard Moonroof, non-adaptive xenons) However, I just found the car came with the Bluetooth Passkey card and bluetooth information. Does this mean I actually might have it? There is no cradle in the armrest, and the only send/recieve button I have is on the steering wheel. How can I confirm I do or don;t have BT module?

Assuming I have BT, can I use the steering wheel key to put the car into pair mode?

No NAV, but I do have Premium Package. How do I tell the production month? VIN, or is it stamped in the door pillar or something.

my CPO 05 came with a bluetooth passkey card but when i checked with the dealer she checked in the computer and told me that the card was from some other car and they placed in this cars docs by mistake. I would check with the dealer to make sure if the car has bluetooth or not.

There has to be another way than the dealer. In 04, the BT module was an accessorie, not an option , I believe. Sort of like the 6 disk CD player. The dealer may not have records it was added.

make sure your seatbelt is buckled (as odd as this sounds) when doing this and the door is closed, also you may try it when holding down the r/t button until it says activate phone. you can also look in the trunk at your TCU and see if there is a PK on the sticker that is on it

and to find out the production month just plug the last 5 of your vin into realoem.com, it will tell you

I'm on the same boat, I have the bluetooth antenna and microphone and speakers but my 2004 X5 is not BT enabled. Search the forums for TCU. If you upgrade your TCU, your bluetooth will function. I'm going to the dealer soon to have the TCU replaced under a recall, I'll let you know what happens.
