Engine noise!!

I have a 2003 X5 4.4. I hear a knocking noise coming form the engine in the passenger side. The noise is only present when the engine is in idle and have reach the normal temperature. Could you help me with this issue?

it's the vanos, but is no concern other than the noise for the time being. over time it'll diminish performance, there are seal kits available to repair the noise, instead of replacing the vaons which is very costly.

don't sweat it, mine had been doing it for quite a while and all was fine.

These are probably your symptoms,

And these were some of the solutions i was talking about;

I know these kits are for I6 engines but v8 use vanos too and beisan has some solutions.

wow thats a nasty noise....I'm glad there is a cheap 360 dollar solution rather then a 1000 dollar solution at the dealer...
