So basically, correct. You need to be re-aligned now that you have bigger wheels.

I can agree with this statement. When I had factory 17" wheels on, I had no alignment or tire wear issues at all. I opted for 22' wheels and had extremely premature wear on the inner edge of the rear tires. I'm not attributing the cause to the camber angle of the rear wheels, but more to the increased width of the tire and the preferred alignment specs for the tire and car combination.

I did get a 4 wheel alignment and that did remedy the issue with the rear tires. I dont have specs because the shop used the older style alignment procedure on my car. If an alignment fixed the issue, then what was the issue with my car considering all i did was switch out my 17" wheels+ tires to 22's?

Just my point... and the alignment computer DOES ask for wheel size when you're setting it up for the specs. Its not much of a difference in 1/10ths of degrees, but a BIG difference in overall handling and tire wear!

but i took my x5 down to the dealers, they said i should replace the suspension basically! which costs around £1000 on parts just alone!

In other words, you have worn parts that should be replaced before alignment...
