2001 X5 4.4i 64k – How much should I budget for maintenance?
I am thinking of purchasing this car for ~14k (comments wlecome on price). I drive about 6k to 7k miles per year. I would like to estimate how much this car will cost me over 4 years. I am currently estimating $1500 per year for maintenance. I would like to keep in good enough condition so that in 4 years(it will be 12 years old!). I could still sell it for 5k to 8k. I am also assuming that with 60/40 city/hwy driving I will get 16 mpg.
I has the sport package, but I am not sure what else. I looks great and has not obvious issues except dead pixels on the dash. The Carfax report is attached. It has had 4 owners! http://2117humboldt.com/carfax2001X53.pdf Last edited by sheppardk : 07-08-2008 at 09:45 PM. |

You never said what the sale price was? I would be concerned about the 4 owners. Look around and find a private sale from an original owner. Be patient. Your $1500 per budget sounds resonable. Save money by doing many service items yourself; oil change, brakes, plugs, filters etc. Find a good independent shop to save more. Try this for your pixel problem; http://www.vdorepair.com/ Good luck!

The seller is asking 16k
Thanks. I am thinking of offering 13k and trying to get to 14k.
