Any one uses all-season tires for 4.4I w/ sports package?

I live in NJ and don't want to put winter tires on my 2004 4.4i w/ sports and 19" wheels. I looked at Tirerack and they recommended either the Pirelli Scorpion Zero or Michelin Latitude. Any advise? Thanks.

I've been running the Pirrelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico's for my sport 19" package and am very pleased with their performance in snow and dry surfaces. I'm on my third set. I get 25K per set. I highly reccommend them.

I put on some Kumho ECSTA STX a couple years ago... mainly because they were cheap and promised to last a lot longer than the Michelin Diamaris my X5 kept burning through.

So far yes they are lasting a LOT longer... probably going to get 4 years out of these.

They handle as well, ride as well, and sound about as loud as my old worn Diamaris at this point... loud at slower speeds, quieter at highway maybe.

Next time I may go for the newer, longer lasting Michelin model if they are indeed really quieter. I'd pay extra for quietness as long as they will last quite a bit longer than the Diamaris.

No one likes the Michelin tires?

Thanks for the advices so far.

I used Michelin on my old 3.0i sport and they were great. They lasted about 60K per set. Not that I am switching to a 4.4i sport, I like to stay loyal to Michelin. But it seems that Pirelli is getting more favorable reviews and seems more common.

Does anyone have two sets of wheels and tires - one for summer and one for winter? I just hate switching them every six months and like to go with all seasons.

I was looking at the Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport when the time comes to replace the Diamaris that are on there now, but the write up on Tire Rack states this about the Dueler..

The Dueler H/P Sport is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Comforting huh?

Yeh its best to have 2 sets of rims and tires, but it depends where you live.

Up here in Canada we need to have 2 sets of rims and tires, because of all the salt and snow etc, you dont want to ruin your nice wheels in the winter time. Plus having a narrower tire helps with the snow and traction.

I run 18" in the winter and 20" in the summer. Dedicated winter tires in the winter plus summers for the summer, i love it

I just got the Michelin Latitude all season on my 19's and have no complaints. The are very quiet and handle pretty well for an all season. They are also good in the rain... I just hope they are as good in the snow.

Any specific reason(s) why you don't recommend Michelin (assuming you're talking about the Lattitudes)?

So what part of Summer Tires don't you understand? The Dueler HP is a summer tire. Summer tires are made of different compounds that just doesn't work well near-freezing temps. That's why people either run All-Seasons (if there's very little snows) or have a separate winter/summer setup swapping wheels/tires between seasons.
