you will have a small square button on your drivers side door on your window switch panel. Beside your side mirror selector. What year is your X5?

gave my VIN to my BMW guy in Maryland and good thing to know that i have folding mirrors and all i need is the switch (the one with the extra square) to make it works and module to have it activated using remote. I did it on my e46 and i love this feature since they people bang on my side mirrors once in a while. He said as long as you have the memory seats, autodim external/internal mirrors, you should have it and i happen to have it.

But looking up the P/N for the switch, i was stunned to find out that it costs a whopping $300!

That's just weird. I have all those too, but no switch so automatically assumed I didn't have folding mirrors, hmmm. If you have folding mirrors, why not give you the switch? I bet if you wanted to buy the mirrors from stealer they would charge u for both mirrors and just install the switch lol. Ok now I've gotta look and see if I just wasted my $. I might have a set of mirrors for sale.

So what happens if you hit the small square button, which folds the mirrors in, then you get out and lock the X5. Do the mirrors now fold back out??
Or is the module "smart" and knows the mirrors are already folded?

square one is manual switch to fold in the mirrors. The module will make it work wirelessly.

yes, just connect the yellow and green wire to the main ECU unit (black wire) and those thing should flap.
