2004 x3: anyone try tinting themselves?

I'm considering tinting my front windows myself. Had some luck tinting my Rav4 last year (pre-cut window tint on-line) and was very pleased with the results.

A few posters stated that some installers had trouble with the 04's. Has anyone tried -- and successfully -- tinted their front windows? Did the panels/window and/or seals need to come off or could you work around them?
