Welcome can you get your neighbours from the UK to do the same thing including the MINI bunch.

says a lot for BMW IMHO one of the prestige brands and in America are willing to take part in a forum. It's about time these guys stood up and said hey look we are here and listening and we are not afraid. You get my vote.

Glad they are finally "here", but I don't think we are gonna have

I don't think anyone really wants to use this forum to slam BMW N/A. It's just our way of saying....'bout time you joined us. If someone has a real issue with them, I'm sure they have enough "manners"......really it's common sense, to deal with their issue privately. Besides, I'm sure BMW N/A is professional enough to not entertain bashing and BS on a public forum. C'mon guys, lightnen up ......Phil

I had the following question/request that I exchanged a couple of emails with BMW Customer Service about. It was a frustrating experience...

My question was:
I have a new 2008 X5 4.8i (E70). The iDrive no longer has the "force feedback" or "haptick technology" that the X5's had up until until about 8 months ago [Mar 2007]. I know a number of new X5 owners that are not happy that we don't have this option. Is there some way that this can be reinstated as an option through a software upgrade?

There were a number of emails exchanged but the response was pretty much:
"...
I suggest contacting the service team at your authorized BMW center directly, so they can review your concerns in person and provide technical support. ..."

I also asked if my question could be forwarded to the appropriate DESIGN or MANUFACTURING department but was told to talk to my service manager.

Is there any other way that questions (or even suggestions) of this sort can be asked of BMW? It does not seem to be a very approachable company but maybe that is something that you're trying to change...

Thanks for reading.

I'm with BMW of North America, LLC. I've passed this message on to a BMW NA Customer Relations Representative who will be in touch with you soon.

I have already received a PM about an issue that I started a new thread regarding the BMW Rear Entertainment System in my 06. This could be a great addition to X5world.com!
