22" Replica OEMs?
Guys,
I am think ing about replacing my 20" OEMs on my 4.8is with 22" OEM replicas. Here is the EBAY link to the whhels I'm consiering. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/22-BMW-X5-Wheels-Rims-Oem-Style-Silver_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43957QQihZ012QQi temZ220191993272QQtcZphoto A few questions: 1. Are there any perfomacne disadvantages to 22s vs. 20s? I suspect the ride is a bit stiffer with 22s, but that doesn't bother me. Anything else? 2. Anyone running 22s now? What you you think? 3. Do these replicas look like good quality? 4. Finally, is this too much bling? I think they look great on an x5, but maybe I've lost it! Thanks for any feedback. GBG

Besides making your X ride much worse - like a brick, slowing your acceleration, and making a lot more noise - (especially when hitting bumps and potholes), they'll probably be just fine.

there's a thread on here with a link to a titanium 4.8 with 22" wheels. They looked pretty good if you asked me. As far as ride is concerned, wouldnt know. I'm thinking of upgrading to 20" in these as well... maybe 22" - that price doesnt look bad, i think you're always safe with 20's - i'd have to see 22" up close to make that decision and to see if it's worth it.

I half agree with you on the bling, but because they are replica OEM (as opposed to clearly aftermarket) they don't look that much different than stock IMHO. To me, they just makes the car look a lot more aggressive without huge bling (again, just my opinion). As far as perfomance, I didn't realize that it was as much as a drag as X5Jay said, so he may have made me reconsider... |

If you can handle the ride, and you are willing to be a bit careful around potholes, you should be alright. But yes, you will be looking at more expensive and harder to find tires, and expect to give up a bit in mileage and acceleration...but with a 4.8is at least you have the motor to move them.
I run +2s (19"s) on my Z3s and while I can tell the difference when I bolt on my stock 17"s its' not a huge deal. Try to get at lighta wheel (I know you have no real choice as you want a specific wheels) and tire as possible to minimize acceleration loss. You will be surprised at how much tire weights vary. |

staggered, light wieght, good tires make a Quality difference
Well there is alot of advice posted already and i totally disagree with the hater mode that ppl are in when 22's are the subject. I would strongly recommend that if you want 22s you have to buy quality (tuner) wheels because that is the biggest difference and these wheels i have never heard of. Quality wheels will weigh alot less and the right tire package will give you better handling depending on what tires you are running with 22's. Wheels with Tires that have a a nice staggered fitment will defeat most of the stigma against 22's along with the weight difference. So IMO if you want to go with 22's, buy quality, light wheel, staggered, and good tires but yes its gonna cost some dough. If you are not ready to spend money on 22's , then you can find staggered 20's which is a safer way to go with almost any rim that is made for a BMW.

What's with the "hater" label? Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion you label them as "haters"?
The OP asked for opinions and feedback. People offered them.
