What are my options?
Hi guys. I have '01 with standard non-dsp radio. I have added a stealthbox with sub and speaker upgrade. I want to add the NAV screen but only because aftermarket double DIN HU's will not fit(well). I don't care so much for navigation but mainly audio and video. Is there any way to connect the standard 16:9 nav screen to aftermarket eq just to power the audio/video? I guess what I'm trying to do is save time on the install, and also have a more appealing user interface on the screen. My friend has a 7" kenwood cd/dvd screen which plays a selection of ambience with the tracks, does anyone have this with the stock nav setup?

not a direct solution, but I would hop over to m5board.com, and search for member DouglasABaker (he sticks his head in here too). He has done an excellent blog on removing the aftermarket amp etc in the E39 M5, retaining the "headunit" and describes the wiring out of the headunit, and connections to aftermarket products.

I haven't quite found the answer yet but I did stumble upon this link, in case anyone is also interested in this process they may find it helpful. I haven't had time to fully read through it but the user seems to have done some pretty heavy modification to his stock navigation display.
