Navi GPS Receiver

Yesterday my battery died on my E46 and I had to replace it with a new battery at the local auto parts center. I noticed my navigation stopped working right after that, more specifically that I am not getting a GPS reception in my car. The map is showing blue (ocean) because I live in Florida and the map doesn't know what to show without the GPS.

My question to the fanatics here is do I need to recycle my Navi DVD Computer? I haven't checked whether the line from the GPS was disconnect for some unusual reason, but I can't imagine it would, unless I had a loose connection.

Or is there some a hidden problem that I may not be aware of?

Has anyone experienced this?

Check for the wire being loose and if doesn't fix it, you will need to re-Calibrate the navigation computer..
Do a board search for Calibrate and you should find it!!

Good luck

Was your car towed or transported without the navigation system being on?

I that was the case your GPS system may simply have lost track of its whereabouts. From what I hear it's only a matter of driving around iwith a clear view of the sky for some time for the system to re-calculate its new position.

Hope it helps.

Mine lost its signal this week and totally lost its bearings. I ended up ejecting the CD, letting the unit power down and then turning it back on and all seems well (so far).

The service section said I was picking up 8 satellites but not getting a signal from any of them, this made me think my antenna was ok.
