I just forked out for the DVD for the 3 series, and a CD for my X5. CD is fine, but the blasted DVD version has dropped all the roads for my town The CD V14 is fine, but Sensis have just omitted the roads from my place, only 50km from the Melbourne CBD on the DVD. Oh, and they were there on V13.

Needless to say the DVD is going back for a refund, but the response from BMW was equally disappointing: basically, what do you expect us to do about it, why don't you phone Sensis?

Wow, Heli I can't believe they've gone backwards in V14. Quite disappointing given we had to wait this long for it.

Have you checked other V14 maps (eg Tom Tom) to see if your streets are in there? If they are, then I wouldn't be surprised if BMW have stuffed up again.

Is the V14 much improved over 13? Any new additions eg speed cameras?

Good luck with getting the refund, hopefully they will oblige.

They are building roads so quickly these days that maps are out of date before they are published. I reckon they should bring the price down or at least offer discounted upgrades.

The issue I have is that on the DVD, my local streets are removed: they were there on V13 DVD, and are all available on the CD V14. They're also fine on my year old TomTom Rider 2, so Some One has stuffed up producing the DVD.

No, still no speed cameras, and no noticeable improvements apart from roads around town being more up to date. Quite disappointing really.

What is the difference in data between the DVD and CD based systems? I have an M3 with a MKIII and was contemplating upgrading to a MKIV, however for the amount of times I use sat nav I really can't justify the price especially when the MKIII is still being provided with the latest CDs.

I have Version 10, so I am due for an upgrade, but being based in Tasmania $300+ is not that cheap considering the place isn't that well mapped. If anyone want to sell V13 or even 14 () on CD let me know.

When did BMW Australia make the change from MKIII to MKIV in their cars?

There should be no diference in map on DVD vs. CD, however CD will cover relativly smal area, and DVD whole Australia ?, Not shure there but in EU, DVD covers whole Western Europe on Detailed level, While CD covers One country on detailed level and Major Roads of Europe (two countries if they are small)

I dont know about BMW Australia, but BMW in general started with MK IV in 2003

Australia does not have enough roads to require a DVD - so check, as I think you'll find that the second map is a CD too. The two maps might be different if one is PROFESSIONAL and the other HIGH, but this sounds unlikely - i.e. the maps might well be interchangeable.

Sensis will never add speed cameras, as they will be out of date as soon as the map is published. However http://pimp-my-nav.com can add speed cameras to the Australian maps, while speed camera POI information is available from a number of sources including http://pocketgpsworld.com and http://gps-data-team.com

BMW Australia changed to MKIV at the same time as the rest of the world.
You need a MKIV nav to add speed cameras, so that might be a reason to upgrade.

Have you had a look at an original whereis update disk? They seem to suggest they include fixed speed camera poi. I have only ever got the discs from BMW. I am sure BMW remove & add some information as their POI information seems less comprehensive that other Nav systems I have seen.
