I found out on Friday when enquiring, that BMW Australia have recalled all Version 14s as there is a major problem with the software. They are going to continue to sell V13 until V15 is released next year.

Ahh typical BMW Australia! Release the latest maps 6mths after they are available for everyone else and then recall them and leave users running 2year old maps on their $6000 navigation systems!

V15 will be released mid year by Sensis but BMW will again wait till the following January to release their version!

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the different colour disks? Mine has a red disk in it (MKIII) but the dealer thinks the green disk might work that they have in stock.

Can anyone confirm?

the version number of the nav disk is usually written on the label. It will tell you which you have, and beware, there are DVD nav disks out there too.

What I have subsequently found out is the it is only the green DVD nav disk that BMW have withdrawn from sale, the red CD for MKIII and purple professional DVD is still for sale in V14.

I've just ordered red V14 for the MKIII, but what I want to know is the difference in content between the 3 formats. Being DVD you'd think it has more data on it, than the CD but what is that data?

If the latest CDs are still available for the MKIII, other than being a bit slower what is the point of an upgrade to MKIV?

Does the whole Australia fit on one CD?
It most likely does on DVD, and maybe more POI-s.
Cant you find the two and compare?

The V13 that I have has the whole of australia on a CD and it is in fact around 100MB only! So not sure why they have released a DVD version now...perhaps better quality graphics? I think though that is a feature of the Nav software not the maps..

I think the newer MOST DVD navs take DVD only whereas the IBUS based Version 4 navs accept CD or DVD

Hi,

When I looked at the PRO NAV v12 disc for my E60, it was on a DVD, but it also was small enough to fit onto a CD, I burnt to test and it worked OK.
