Whistle Navcoder and ibus connector

I recently bought the i-bus connector from Rolf Reslers website and have downloaded the latest navcoder software, all in an attempt to`'see how i get on' with tinkering with the settings...

I have followed all the instructions and relevant threads on this site, but I get no i-bus activity whatsoever..

I have tried a number of different combinations regarding ignition key position, starting the software, but it seems that nothing is responding...

Can anyone help me out here, and maybe point me in the right direction, as I´m pretty much at breaking point !?

Many thanks..

Thanks for replying.....

The com port selected within NavCoder is the same as the port associated with the usb-serial port..

I'm wondering if the i-bus connector is faulty...although this would seem somewhat unlikely, judging by the positive results from all of the other members who have tried this...also the computer 'sees' the connector, so maybe I´m clutching at straws on this one....

Any other ideas ? I'm a desperate man...

Many thanks.

You have plugged the i-bus interface into the cd connecter, right.

What version of windoze do you have, as the usb i-bus requires a special driver for some versions.

http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/install.html

Here is a page to help setup the USB port on windoze XP

http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/port.html

Also, 1st stage ignition should be enough to use the i-bus interface.

Hope this helps

Unhappy

Thanks for your help...

Am using Win XP Pro...I did have to download the drivers as XP didn´t see the device initially and installed them, according to the instructions on the resler site..

The device comes up in the hardware list etc...

Maybe a fresh install of everything....?

Also , yes, I'm using the 3-pin connector from the cd changer..

Check the CD Changer plug to Resler connection. CD changer has three pins while Resler has four. Brown wire (in CD plug) should go to Ground in the Resler interface, Green-Red in CD plug to +12V in Resler and White-Red-Yellow to I-Bus.
Check com port setting in NavCoder. Try all possible ports.
Try different I-Bus software, such as WinBus or IBusAnaliser. Check if they detect I-Bus traffic.
I heard there was an issue about the Resler USB interface, related to the order in which connections were made, but I do not remember how it went. Try connecting first to PC, powering up and then connecting to car. Try the other way round.
Hope it helps.

Has anyone run the NavCoder SW on Vista? I have Vista Business 32 Bit and it does not run for me. I get the file missing error, I have followed the readme advice but the problem remains.

MSCOMM32.OCX
This app requires that MSCOMM32.OCX be installed and registered on your PC.
If you get a runtime error saying MSCOMM32.OCX is missing, do this:
Copy the file MSCOMM32.OCX to your Windows/System directory
Register the file as follows:
Click "Start" then "Run..."
Type "cmd" then hit Enter to open the Command prompt window
Type "regsvr32 mscomm32.ocx" and hit enter
You should see confirmation that the OCX was properly registered.

Hello everybody, i would like to activate the voice control in my E83 X3 and i don´t know which is the best place to connect the resler interface. I have read other post that says tha cd changer wire is the best option but i don´t know where is that wire in my car (the car has no cd charger). Any help will be apreciated (some photos of where is that wire would be a great help).

Thanks & Regards.
