OK, when I first read your post I thought it said "400" hp and when I saw the size of that truck I was like "400hp in that wouldn't do squat!!"
Now I see it said 4000...that makes more sense.

LOL, brings back memories of the summer I spent in Ft. McMurray working for Suncor. Driving around the mines in a pickup with those big boys was a bit intimidating to say the least. They do things on a big scale up there. You really can't appreciate just how big until you see it person.

I'm glad people enjoyed the pictures. I haven't driven one of the 400 ton trucks, but have been around all of these since '95. My wife drove a 100 ton truck at a previous demo event, got up to about 50 km/hr on the track. She said it was just like driving a pickup, except that your living room was attached to the right side of the cab.
Major04: go ahead and send them on. Spark Chaser? I'm a mech eng. You know the difference between a civil eng and a mech eng? We build weapons, they build targets. I drive my elec eng friends crazy when we travel and I check that the winter plug-ins for the cars have juice by arcing the 110 volt plug and looking for a spark. Suave: We don't measure mpg, we measure ton-miles as a production measure, so it would be ton-miles per gallon as an efficiency figure. Pretty efficient actually. ![]()
