Do people really elect politicians for their experience or the promise of their vision?

If elected for their experience then 90% of them need to be thrown out of
office. What has their so called experience brought us? Not much.

I'd go with promise of vision promoted by experience. However, they have to define that vision. Simply saying "I have a vision" doesn't cut it. Though I completely disagree with 99.9% of everything GW did in office you have to give it to him for sticking to his guns. He never really backed away from moves he made, wrong or right.

IMO any election of a leader based on "he might do good things" is a bad one. I heard a great commentary yesterday that said this about experience:

"Everyone touts experience. Experience is necessary, experience is required. Then they look at others and say 'you have no experience in this issue'. Well, no one person is going to have experience in every issue. What you're looking for in a President is judgement. Good judgement. The judgement to choose a cabinet that will align its goals for the future. It is the cabinets job to be focused on specific areas of interest throughout the nation, not the Presidents"

It has been the party of inclusion for at least the past 7+ years. Unlike Clinton, Bush has appointed many minorities & women to the highest level cabinet positions. Clinton had maybe half as many as Bush:

Secretary of State
Gen. Colin L. Powell, 2001–2005
Condoleezza Rice, 2005–

Attorney General
Alberto Gonzales, 2005

Secretary of the Interior
Gale A. Norton, 2001–2006

Secretary of Agriculture
Ann M. Veneman, 2001–2005

Secretary of Commerce
Carlos Gutierrez, 2005–

Secretary of Labor
Elaine L. Chao, 2001–

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Melquiades R. Martinez, 2001

Secretary of Transportation
Norman Y. Mineta, 2001–2006
Mary E. Peters, 2006–

Secretary of Education
Margaret Spellings, 2005–
