House Remodeling Job, by Car...

A news snippet on a car crash that "remodeled" a house; the house belongs to my son-in-law's good friend. Amazing the guy was able
to "back out" of the living room and drive off. The jerk hasn't been
caught yet, though the car may have been discovered, dumped.

Car slams into living room at 2 a.m.

CINNAMINSON — Police are searching for a motorist who crashed a vehicle into a house on Riverton Road and then drove off early yesterday morning.

Resident Larry Nicoletto said he didn't know what to think when a car slammed through the front of his home and into the living room about 2 a.m.

Nicoletto said he and his wife, Dorothy, were upstairs asleep when the crash occurred.

“We heard this loud noise. The bedroom shook. I thought someone hit the cars (parked in the driveway),” Nicoletto said.

Instead, an as-yet unidentified vehicle had crashed through the bay window of the home at Riverton Road and Middlesex Drive. The force of the impact sent the living-room furniture flying through a wall leading into the kitchen.

“By the time we got out of bed and down here, the car was gone and the house was full of smoke. We thought something was on fire,” Nicoletto said.

It turns out the smoke was from the vehicle's tires spinning out on the home's wooden floors as the driver backed out.
“You can see the tire tracks on the floor there,” Nicoletto said pointing to two tire burnouts on the floor near the gaping hole in the front of the residence.

Despite all the damage to the home, police said the only evidence left behind were two “chrome trim rings” from the vehicle's rims.
There was no description of the car, police said.

Nicoletto said he can't believe the driver missed all the trees in his front yard.

“We thought we had a pretty good buffer,” Nicoletto said. “I guess he fell asleep and drove it right into the house.” Nicoletto, who has lived in the house for nine years with his family, said he was relieved no one was injured.

“Luckily my four kids weren't home last night,” he said.
Nicoletto said he felt sorry for the driver of the vehicle.

“I'll bet he's scared to death,” Nicoletto said. “I'm glad now no one got hurt.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cinnaminson Police at (856) 829-6667.
