No, I agree. However, I wouldn't want to be at the bottom of anyone's list. McCain was able to achieve in the military because of his pedigree. Nepotism at its finest. |

I don't... do you know where they are? If so, tell em Krimson X would like a word with them. I've never been to the Academy, but have plenty of friends who are in the JAG Corps. Some went to Westpoint... Some went to Annapolis. Some smart...Some not so smart. Last edited by Krimson X : 08-22-2008 at 05:43 PM. |

While you generally have to be pretty intelligent to be accepted to the Naval Academy, your chances of acceptance are probably at least slightly boosted (and I'm making a stretch here) if both your father and grandfather were four-star admirals in the US Navy. |

Sure and and I hear it is much easier to go to Harvard through an affirmative action petition. Just ask Barrack and Michelle. |

That may be what you hear, but it's not so easy to attain top 5% of the class at Harvard Law - or any institution of higher education. Indeed, affirmative action works for everyone - just ask Bush and McCain... Last edited by 4point4eye : 08-22-2008 at 08:30 PM. |

I won't even attempt to take that away from him because once the opportunity was given to him he made the most of his gift from taxpayers and lawmakers. That said I'm against affirmative action because it is discrimination against others in similar circumstances that do not have black skin. I've never owned a slave nor do I condone discrimination so why should we continue treating people of color different? In fact I believe discrimination laws should be tougher and enforced. Both Barrack and Michelle Obama benefited from affirmative action and received treatment not afforded to disadvantaged non African American citizens. |
