2 true stories for the brave......
I have seen a shoeless prep cook, sitting on a table, peeling onions by biting the root off and spitting it on the ground WHILE he smoked ciagrettes with no discernable ashtray to be found.

Also, I was there when a different Chinese restaurant was painting their floor. I asked my friend, "Why?" her response was "the health department said we need to clean it and this is easier." They did not buy a mop for almost a year after this.

Hence, I eat only at a nicer Asian Rest, and I ALWAYS peek behind the curtain.

Good stuff, have had it plenty as we used to go out to Flushing every other week.

BTW, I think authentic chinese food is overrated by those of us/you who are in the U.S. now. I want to puke just looking at some of that stuff. My mother-in-law makes it all the time... thankfully my mom never did... just some weird stuff that always makes Andrew Zimmern's show.

I like some Chinese food but, I am more partial to Filipino food now.
Since, my two friends (you know who you are) introduced me to a Filipino restaurant in Jersey City. If you haven't tried some Filipino food your missing out. For the Chefs in this board, try some Filipino food. I know there are lots of Flip restaurant in the San Diego area or should I say the whole California area.

Sorry for the thread jacking but, Chinese food are overrated and are tasting the same, in the states. Don't just stick with Chinese...go try Malay, Vietnamese, or even Indian! You know what I really like, its not an Asian cuisine? Cuban BBQ
