Talking The Hunt for an E30

Back in 2006 there was a post asking "What's your limit?"

http://www.x5world.com/lounge/14080-...ght=gas+prices

But instead of getting a Civic or Mini I opted for an E30 318i. Had asked some folks for help on checking out cars for sale and got valuable help. Also found one in WA and the local CCA chapter helped out tremendously....

Fast forward and saw a posting for a Red E30 318i in Covina, CA. Had someone check-out the car for me and it was in very good condition for a 17 year old car. Flew out to Los Angeles with the family and after a final test drive and inspection pulled the trigger on a deal.

And rest is history....

Got the car and had lunch...

The car consistentely averaged 32mpg the whole trip at fast paced speeds.... Very happy and would do it all over again when opportunity presents itself...

Very cool, Eugene. It looks to be in great shape. My first BMW was a 1984 318i and it was a fantastic car. Your pics brought back a lot of good memories.

enjoy!!

Nice car.

I had 2 e30's. An 84 318i and an 85 325e. I loved both of them. I have been keeping an eye out for a good condition 325/318is. I would love to have either in a 2-door with a manual trans.

Here is a great website/forum dedicated to the 4-cylinder m42 powered e30's and e36's.

Wow, glad you ended up with what looks like a spectacular E30, Eugene! Looks like a cool trip too; great addition to your already fine stable.
