Goodwood Festival of Speed 2008 - Photos #9
See the main post for a trip report and background information.
Photos of Historic Race Cars: “Twinny”, a 1963 F1 racer based on two Mini powertrains, one at each end of the car. Reportedly does the quarter in 10.6. Remember that this was 1963, when ‘specials’ could still compete with the factory teams. McLaren M8 1971. CanAm racer, 8.4 litre Chevrolet power, incredible car McLaren M8 1971 Lotus Cortina Mk 1 1965, ex Jim Clark. Fantastic condition, and one of the Lotus Cortinas with a pedigree, not the result of a parts kit added in recent years. I learned to drive a manual transmission on a Cortina, but alas, not this one. Toyota Celica Pikes Peak 1994. Built and raced by Rod Millen. 850 hp 2.0 litre 4 cylinder, lots of turbos to deal with the altitude change on the Pikes Peak climb. One of the fastest times of the event. Toyota Celica Pikes Peak 1994 Jaguar XJR12 1990, Lemans winner, fastest time of the event. Crowd favourite as Justin Law was driving, and he kept beating his previous record times throughout the weekend. Brumos Porsche Daytona 2003 Jeff
