How to bet at horse races

I am invited to horse races at Del Mar. Never have been to one and it sounds exciting.

However, I will be amongst some of the horsie set and I do not want to appear as the rube I am. So, what is a good strategy that I can comprehend? I know there is no system, but what is cheap and fun with, or course, a life-altering payoff?

I know there are smart people here that know this stuff, so post up!

Find name you like, go to window, pay $2 and say horses name and "Win".

You can also go to the stalls and check the horse feces before the race, that's the best way to pick a winner, I'm told.

Look for the horse who makes the largest poo. It only makes sense that he/she will run the fastest...

I usually bet on the jockey and never a favorite. Also never bet win/place/show on horses. Look at the horses, know that there is an experienced jockey and bet on the 5-1 horses and above. Don't be afraid to spend a bet to win on a 15-1 horse if all the cards add up.

Have fun...

LOL...Bet on the jockey who did not have time to pee. If you want to fix the race buy the jockey a few beers and keep him from the bathroom prior to race time.

I look at the race program before I go to the track find three horses (say its 3 5 7 in the first race) in each race that have late speed or are racing out of class like aa horse in single a race then box em (bet a 3 5 7 box) "never bet what u cant lose and dont plan to win have a drink and have some fun. That part isnt complicated lol

Also, if you are in the turf club, take a minute and go to the balcony and check out the horses. The CEO has done very well at Del Mar betting on just gray horses.

Go to the stables and bet on the one with the largest pile of sh*t under it. If a lighter car can go faster, why cant a lighter horse go faster? lol j/k
