..."Scoot", "Sled", "Wheel", "Bike", "Cycle", etc.Slang for Motorcycle. Never said I had an IH Scout...I've driven a couple. If I had one, I think I'd use it for target practice, or maybe a yard rat truck on a farm. |

One thing about a IH Scout is that it did not have check engine light and you or i could fix it. I outboard mechanic had one and he used to tow large boats with it and you could not kill it. |

mD, try resetting the code first and see if you get the sames ones again. The ELD issue isn't very common at all.
I'm afraid that the service manual I was able to dl is for the UK model, and they use narrowband/O2 sensor for the primary sensoe whereas the US model uses a wideband/ a/f. It won't be helpful in pinpointing the O2 sensor issue, but still is useful. The best place to start would be to check the 'ACG' fuse under the dash, it's a 10A. This is a good place to start because this fuse seems to be common to both the A/F/O2 sensor and ELD cicruits. If you look at the inside side of the fuse panel cover, it should have the labels for all the fuses in there.

Vig,
Thank you very much for digging around in your ref material! I appreciate it, very much... I will check fuse(s) and try resetting the ECM tomorrow morning when I am smarter/less stupid, than at this time of day... If the CEL goes off after the reset, I may revisit the local AZ for another test...I have to get this cleared/fixed/not showing up before I go through NC inspection by EOM. Good engine in DaFridge...the rest of the car is 3rd world and, suspect. But, V likes it, it's paid for, and it runs. It was one of the "few" CR-Vs built in the England plant; they made them there, for US consumption, for about "20 mins"...quality sucked and they moved it back to Nihon. What a surprise. Mine is the "BritBuiltOption", lol! Thanks again, my friend. Best Regards, mD |

No Luck...
I pulled every fuse in the fuse box(s), and they all look fine... close inspec. with a loupe, but all look good. I pulled the ECU 15amp fuse, to clear the code: it did clear the Engine Light for one start and run...a 2nd start brought the Engine Light back on...Ugghhh. I guess it's time to nail down an appt at Apple Honda in Asheville, make the trek, and have credit card in hand. Thanks for your research effort, Vig! BR,mD Edit: some digging, on Honda forums, finds my codes more clearly defined than the AutoZone readouts... P0134: Air/Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) No Activity Detected P1166: Air/Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater System Electrical Problem P1298: Electric Load Detector (ELD) Circuit High Voltage No car electronics xpert, but it looks like a new oxy sensor and maybe one of the gizmo fuse like blocks in the fuse box...can hardly wait for the sky is falling pitch from the Apple Honda "service advisor"...I'll fl/up with the outcome. Best of luck, my guess it won't be more than a grand.
Is the emission system covered for 100,000 miles? Is the problem related to the emision system? |

I would guess that oxygen sensor is emission related... however, after digging through the manual(s), which detailed little on what's covered, sending me to the HondaCar site, (which may be one of the least user friendly sites I've ever been "on"/caught up in log-in hell), I finally was able to get the list of what emission stuff is "covered" and for how long: On our 2003 pos CR-V, registered in NC, all the Fed emission parts are only covered for 3 yrs/36,000 miles, except for the cats which are covered for 80K miles. What a product warranty... I leave the keys in it regularly, hoping someone will steal this 3rd world piece of crap. Can hardly wait for the Honda Stlr to rip me for the repairs... We are keeping our pos CR-V for awhile longer...
theCEO likes it, the engine itself, is fine, and I don't need to toss $20Gs on top of the trade, for a new 3rd car right now. If the Mkt was better, I'd consider it; it's not, so we keep the Stable as is. |
