6 Series questions..

Wasnt sure where to post this.. and wasnt sure how many ppl visit the "other BMW" forums.. LOL

Brother in law wants to purchase a 645ci hard top. Under 40k he's looking to pay for it. Any suggestions?

Here are a few questions he's concerned about:

Known issues
good 6 series forum
can SMG be retro to it? (believe so.. same as x5 wiring?)
Ext warranty (where to get a good one-doubt he can get a CPO now)

anything you can think of let me know..

Not sure why you doubt he can get a CPO when I bought a 645 coupe back in 2007 it had 35,000 on it with CPO and sold for the mid-50K range.

Electronics are a HUGE issue on the 1st 6ers. Make SURE it has a warranty!!

Yeah, retrofitting SMG would probably not be a good idea, let alone within the budget.
Look around, there are 650i's licking the low 50's, and with the economy, they're only going down from here.

He's actually looking at 40 and under.. I'm seeing some 645s for 35-40s.. All 2004 though.

Wag why did you sell the coupe? actually more than hes trying to spend..

Also, SMG would be the M6 wheel or what is available for the 6 series..

6er required 8-10K in warranty work on electronics

And even with that still had issues, go for a 650!!

Your 6er needed 8-10k in non-warranty work (i believe electronics not covered right?).

can he get a 650 for 40k? LOL.
