So let's see. Apple has designed the iPhone to operate across all Cell phone platforms?

Only GSM right now (ATT, Verizon/Alltel, and T-Mob). Sprint is the only large CDMA carrier right now, as I recall.

Perhaps I'll wait until a later time.
I also got around same time for that price. No money back or credit for those who bought before May 27. After May 27 buyers will get free upgrade to new phone. At least the software update is free.

iPhone will be offered in several countries so it has to be more than just AT&T. And its a good thing that the new iPhone comes with SIM card ejector tool so now we can swap SIMs when traveling overseas.

iTouch prices will also go down I believe.

I bet a lot of Verizon people would get the I-Phone and Verizon would jump at the chance to offer it.

I think AT&T made a huge mistake letting the exclusive go.

Doc, Verizon (and I guess Alltel, since they wanna buy it) both run CDMA.

The main thing stopping me from getting an iPhone now is that I won't switch to AT&T....Had a bad experience when they were Cingular.

LM: I sure hope iPod Touch prices go down...but since it's not subsidized, they would take a huge hit...so I'm not sure...

Yes, my memory was faulty on this. I especially should have known this, as I was an Alltel customer for 12 years (left 2 years ago).

CDMA--Verizon, Alltel, Sprint
GSM--ATT, T-Mobile
iden--Nextel

To me the cost of the cell phone does not mean that much, my family plan bill is $240 a month and a large part of that is tax.
