From the Can't Make This Stuff Up Dept. ...

Man spends most of flight on toilet "seat"...

NY Man Sues Airline Over Flight Spent In Toilet
Mon May 12, 6:52 PM ET

A New York man who says he was denied a seat on a five-hour jetBlue flight and was instead told to "hang out"
in the plane's bathroom has sued the airline for $2 million, saying he suffered "extreme humiliation."

When Gokhan Mutlu arrived to check in for a jetBlue flight from San Diego to New York in February he was told
the flight was full, according to the lawsuit filed in New York State Supreme Court.

But Mutlu was allowed to board after a jetBlue flight attendant agreed to give up her seat and travel in an
airline employee "jump seat." It was not clear in the lawsuit whether the flight attendant was working.

However 90 minutes into the flight, the pilot told Mutlu the flight attendant was uncomfortable and he would have
to give up his seat and "hang out" in the bathroom for the remainder of the flight, the lawsuit said.

The pilot "became angry at (Mutlu's) reluctance" and said Mutlu "should be grateful for being onboard,"
the lawsuit said.

When Mutlu volunteered to sit in the "jump seat," he was told it was reserved for airline personnel.

At one point, the airplane experienced turbulence and Mutlu sat on the toilet seat without a seat belt,
causing him "tremendous fear," the lawsuit said.

JetBlue was not immediately available for comment.

I can't imagine a pilot would knowingly allow a passenger to take a seat (in the toilet) without the required seatbelt.

I have to raise the flag on this one.

Well guess what it's true. As always filling in the blanks helps.

I don't knowingly post BS stuff here; I often check it out before
tossing it up. It coulda been hyperbole, simply picked up by via
"the wire", but it showed up as a page worth of links via GOOG.
I neglected to include the link, but it passed my sniff test.

Thus, I felt it was legit, if possibly overblown or exaggerated...

Who names their kid "Gokhan Mutlu"?!

The "Buddy Pass" makes some sense, now.

My title was my point: hard to make this kind of stuff up.
Life is weirder than fiction, usually.

MD, I know that everyone of your threads are interesting and true, don't sweat it. Have move back to the mountain any new photos?

Back to this thread, I think the person sueing was flying for free and he was given his seat back for landing and the seat belt light was off when he was doing his toilet time. It still sound strange though.

Blue,
I wasn't sweating it or, defending myself, or the story...
just setting my position squarely, for the newbs, and casual perusers, lol!

Not many "new" pics of the view; working on getting a few big trees
taken down to open the view up, but hate to cut 100-200+ yr old
trees down.

I agree: there is some "noise" in the story, situation-wise. But,
typical in the US of A: sue immediately, lol!

PS: time for you to get a "Spring shot" of your front end, for you
ava? Lol!

This was on the cover of the NYPost yesterday. I don't believe this at all. How could a pilot and crew be so stupid? It boggles the mind.

I fly JetBlue at least twice a week, and I must say, it is the best airline I have ever flown on, which is high praise coming from someone that used to be known by his first name at a few different gates at John Wayne.
