Edwards endorses Obama. "Is it over for Clinton?"

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards endorsed Sen. Barack Obama on Wednesday at a campaign event in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"The reason I'm here tonight is because the Democratic voters have made their choice, and so have I," he told the boisterous crowd.

"There is one man who knows and understands that this is a time for bold leadership. There is one man that knows how to create the change, the lasting change, that you have to build from the ground up," Edwards said. "There is one man who knows in his heart there is time to create one America, not two ... and that man is Barack Obama."

It's over for the Dems, that is for certain. I haven't seen a party screw something up this bad since the Bill Clinton Impeachment hearings.

Going into the end of 2007 this should have been a done deal for the Dems, an easy victory. They have screwed it all up IMO. It is my belief that Hillary will never drop out, so the DNC will decide on the floor. By that time, they will have about 90 days to beat McCain who has been able to campaign in other states for a general election all year.

I disagree with the notion that this is "bad" for the democrats. Maybe the party feels that they have 2 very strong candidates and they are doing what the process allows them to do. It isn't the dem's fault that there was no real options in the republican party (and still isn't in my opinion lol).

They aren't exactly mud slinging, Hillary recently said it would be a "grave error" for her supporters to vote for John McCain if she doesn't win. Barack has and would say the same.

I just never understood how this is "hurting" the democrat party, IMO - they are the only relevant candidates right now. McCain has to make some noise every once in a while just to get some press. Nothing would have changed for Clinton voters if she dropped out in 2007, if they weren't voting for Barack if he won then, that may not have changed now, and vice versa. If anything, some may now say "well you know what - if he/she does win, I will still vote Dem because now I've had the opportunity to get to know him/her and their policies."

It also won't be decided at the DNC floor - Dean already said that there will be a nominee soon after June 3rd wrap up, and not at the Convention. Either all the remaining super delegates will come forward, or someone will concede - and that person will know when it's time to concede. They won't have to be told.

But please explain to me how this is "bad"? People complain when the Dems don't put up a fight, and when they do - "it's ruining the party. etc etc"

Perhaps Edwards can persuade these "hard working" American democrats from West Virginia to vote for Obama.

What I saw today from the party leaders is quite a compelling story. The party displayed a spirit of unity when GWB attacked Obama whilst giving a speech at the Knesset.
The party has coalesced around Senator Obama in attacking GWB, and in doing so signaled the end of Senator Clinton's campaign for the nominee.

Yup.. couldnt agree more Krimson. Amazing how he isn't "american" enough. One person doubts he can sing the star spangled banner or that he knows the pledge of allegiance.

Well, even Democrats are racist LOL.

Well said Rasta.
This election has been quite a revelation on the Democratic party. There are apparently some democrats that are just democrats but always vote republican.
