My son is 17 months old and now I want another

I'll be 42 next month and my wife is already there. Are we crazy? Had I known it was this wonderful I would have had kids long ago.

Anyway...Just a random thought but heck...It's the Lounge.

I live in a city where you generally have to send kids to private school. The LA public schools are horrible.
That means, at today's rate of $30k/yr for private school, two children will cost me $60k/yr, and that's before donations, tutors, fund raisers, etc.. And that's before college.

I think the perfect equation is, 1 kid, 2 dogs... LOL..

LOL...Already have that equation plus two cats. Public school is not an option but as you say it won't be cheap especially in the Bay Area of California. I'm pretty sure we can pull that off but I might need to put off that Austin Martin for a few more decades.

We waited so long so we could finish school, start a career and buy some property. Next thing you know we're 40+ but moving so fast we think we're in our early 30's. Along comes a kid and you finally know what is really important in life.

I'll sacrifice if need be...

My dad was 46 when I was born, now I am 27 and he is 72. Of course he is and has always been a lot older than the fathers of my friends, but it doesn't hurt a bit and his 16 years younger wife (my mom)
keeps him young. He came along to ski with me and a friend + friend's dad (60y/o) a few months back and I hope he can keep that up for a while longer...

I say go for it... I don't have kids (or a serious relationship) but I know I look forward to the moment I will have that one day... What else are we living/working/making money for????

I had my first when I was 30 and my second when I was 33. I'd have had them earlier too if I'd known better! I'd say go for it!
