Sorry Mich: I left you out in my thanks post! Y'all have forgotten more about this stuff than I know! As for Mr/Ms Pipestem Swallowtail, that series was done over the course of about a week, watching closely several times a day; I was really trying to get the morphed butterfly as it emerged, but I have never seen that species emerge in daytime. We had hundreds and hundreds on our outside vertical basement wall, but I never saw one "come out" Some of the cocoons make it over the winter and emerge in spring/summer... The process is remarkable, imo and watching my subject select the ideal spot on the vertical wall, tie off, shut down and then wiggle and contort for a couple days, then go gray/dead looking...then, the next morning it has that amazing casing as a pupae...well, I sound like some wank on the Discovery Channel, but it's really a remarkable process. The salamander shot is one of my faves; I see this or, ones like it, almost every night, but sneaking up on them is a prob. I was lucky. Lots of cool creatures here in FLA, too, but the more suburban situ offers less chance to sneak up on the creatures. NEway, enough emoting... Thanks again for all the Looks and kind words. I enjoy that y'all enjoy looking at my pics! BR,mD |
