Actually I was initially impressed with that large photo taken by the Canon 40D which no longer shows up on this thread. I'll admit I originally was looking at the Canon but got a little mixed up with the 40D D40 models of Canon and Nikon. It was a crazy week this week. Now that I've finished my cup of coffee I realize now that I attributed the Canon 40D photo I was so impressed with to the Nikon D40. That locked me into the D40 and thus I explored the D40x and ultimately the D60. Now that I realize my mistake I can honestly say the 40D is by far the better camera. However, with that said it really is not in the same league as the D40 and more on par with the D80 from Nikon. Now that all is said and done I might very well have ended up where I am today. The Canon 40D is just a bit too much camera for me at this point and based on my skill level the D40 might be a better match. So you Canon owners. ![]() |

One can drive themselves mad with all of the different DSLR's and the specs. I went a little nuts myself but had made my decision with camp I'd go with. It's all personal preference. I was in the exact boat you were, deciding how much to spend, what was enough/too much camera for me. I'm pretty sure that no matter which one I got, the ones we've been discussing are all good. Now you can embark on the fun and expensive journey that is lenses and accessories. ![]() Like Gresch would recommend, I would also recommend going with B&H. They've been excellent on everything so far. They process and ship very quickly and their prices are very competitive.

That's cool, Nikon, Canon, whatever works for you.... Enjoy. Btw- I've recommended this book to everyone who buys their first DSLR, I hope you're not insulted, but I've been shooting SLR's for over 20 years and I still refer back to it every now and then: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Ult...2262091/?itm=2 and this one too: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Tra...2295051/?itm=6 Enjoy your new equipment...
