Why are dealers such slackers? Mini rant!!

OK so I get to take my X in for a sunroof leak, get the rear brakes looked at, they are starting to make some noise(they are at like 3-4mm of thickness), Rear hatch is missing one rubber stopper(slight rattle), and to remove the DRL. Simple job right... not so

Here is what I get
Sunroof leak... it's your windshield, it's not factory glass (OEM)....gonna cost 1500.00 (no thank you)
Brakes..... we looked at everything and all looks w/in spec (3-4mm pad thickness in spec?)
Rear Hatch squeak.... your cargo cover rattles, normal operation
Remove day time running lights(DRL).... 68+ dollar bill

2 days in a POS rental and .....

........the kicker...... they TRASH my paint. I mean TRASH. Apparently in search of the water leak they used soapy water, it's etched into my paint now. It must of sat outside for hours. I get the car back dirty. After 4 hand washes it's still there. This is gonna take me Hours to buff out, hours. DAMM I hate this new dealer. I would not let them fix my skateboard now.

[/OK rant over]....Thanks for hanging in with me, I do feel better

So the good news is looks like I get to try out some new clay and wax that showed up last week. Now I just need to find the time. And NO DRL's

Yea as soon as my 5ys or 50K is up. I am SOOO picking up a GT1 and whatever I may need.

So it looks like the Adams Clay Bar and Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover may get the water stans out. The hood, top of the fenders, roof and D pillers are the worst.

Thanks for the portercable info, it's good stuff. However, I rock a Dewalt with a 9" velcro pad. http://www.toolking.com/products/220...oglebase=DW849

Dealers are slackers

I used to use VOB for my service; never again. I have had many ridiculous charges over the years. 6 cans of brake cleaner on top of $25 for shop supplies, $20 to tell the car the oil had been changed....please. They look at you with a straight face and lie. The last visit was the last straw. Screwed up the wheel alignment and then claimed with a straight face it was "within the specified range". While that was only partly true it was waaaaay out of the specified tolerance. I had another shop show me how the wheels where aligned, allowed me to watch their realignment while explaining every step, and then showed me how it is possible to cheat the print out. Print the page and then tighten the control arms! Which knocks it out of tolerance (and the range) as the arms tighten.

I use this board to figure out how to fix stuff myself. Next project is the water pump and thermostat. Then on to the A/C. I feel better too!

Steed,
Why not go back to that Stlr and show him the "custom work" on
your car's paint and at least beef at them? Maybe they will accommodate
you in some way? A free visit to a good detail guy...etc.

Man, that is ugly stuff...looks like you parked next to a toxic
waste dump.
