Beware when replacing radiator or anything I guess!

It seems that you cant pay some people enough money to do things the right way! I've been posting about a DIY waterpump/thermo and radiator job. I sucked it up and took it to a "German Auto" shop to do the work. I payed $1200 for the job and was feeling good about my decision. I pulled up to a gas station after picking up the car to curiously look at the work that had been done. The wire for the mass air sensor was hanging onto the block (it has a little slide and hold on the air intake tube) and the wire that was previously "neatly" attached to the radiator was laying on the radiator tubes !! I was like WTF! It just was sloppy. Kinda made me think of the things that arent easily seen from just looking into the engine compartment. BEWARE about the radiator replacement, it seems that aftermarket (behr) radiators dont have the conection to hang that wire to radiator (they still shouldve found a way)! I saw a previous post by "amcink" where his fan cut up this same wire!! I drove to home depot and bought some electical tape and pull ties to get that wire secure. I hope at least the major work was done the right way!
Just had to vent to the forum and keepm you guys informed about what could happen? Trust no one and always take a peek under the hood to find things like this (hopefully it wont happen to you 'cause it shouldnt happen to anyone paying mucho dinero for a job). Im debating calling these guys to complain?!
Lastly, after spending much time under the hood trying to find things wrong i notice what appears to be an open tub toward the floor of the engine compartment on the driver side...any thoughts as to what this could be?

Sorry for long post friends---

For the mystery tub could you post a pic? And that is why it pays to have it done by someone who has experience and is competent. The "German Auto" shop should have done better, but that is the sloppy work of one individual tech who doesn't care about the quality of his work, only about making the money. As a mechanic the quality of your work is for all intensive purposes your signature. That is what either brings customers back or drives them away.

I'd go back, complain and demand reimbursement for the trouble you had to go through to secure that wire. The I'd ask to have them identify that mechanic who worked on your X and ask to speak to him. I'd tell him (in front of the manager) that he did a piss poor job of work for the amount of money I paid and that he has lost one customer and possibly others after the posting I'm putting on the internet.

I agree with going back but disagree with the method. Calling the mechanic out is not something a customer should be doing. A customers beef is with the service writer, manager or owner. Let them deal with the problem. A good shop will have the service writer inspect a job and test drive prior to releasing a vehicle to the customer. The mistake was there, not with the tech.

I see your point, bud.... Nice Delorean, BTW!!!

IMO- at least getting them to identify the mechanic so as to not have him/ her (no discrimination) work on your car again would be worth the effort.

I think the Tech screwed up, I should have mentioned that. The service witter has a responsibility to inspect the job, so I gotta blame him too

OT...
Thanks, the "D" has been one hell of a project, now that I am done I don't know what to do with it. It only has 1200 miles on it, I got it in 1988 and parked it in the back on my fathers warehouse and about 10 months ago I uncovered it and it now sits in my garage eating up my project time.
