Potential Buyer Needs Advice

I'm looking for an X5 and plan to spend between 33-40K. So far I've targeted 2006 as a likely year due to availability and price. I've found them around town with 20-25K miles. Are there any must have features that you would suggest. Sunroof is a given. I'm curious about engine size. Will I kick myself if I get the 3.0? I drove one today and it seems adequate. Not a speed demon but perky enough.

Also, is there a site that shows all the options associated with the 2006? i.e what is in the premium package.

Look on homepage for your 2006 packages. You will want the V8...mileage is actually 1 better than the 3.0 and more power is good on heavy vehicle like the X. As far as other options...your choice. If you live somewhere cold probably want heated seats. The sport package is very nice and was a must for myself.

The V8 was an absolute must for me. Remember, in 2004 it got valvetronic which gives you more power (315HP) and 12% better mileage. I think the panoramic sunroof is fantastic as well. Always get compliments from passengers. "Damn, that sun roof is BIG!"

My advice is be patient and drive as many as you can to learn about options and color combinations that you prefer. Don't be seduced by the first pretty face. The 3.0 is one of the best six cylinder engines made but the 4.4 is a great engine too, drive both and form your own opinion. Good luck

Tomaz is right on...time is on your side; the lots will increasingly full of them, either in 3.0 or V8 versions,
over the next several weeks/months.

Spend some time on the Front Page on the year(s) you are interested in,
and do some perusing here. If the "answer" or, at least the good opins
aren't to be found on this Board, they don't exist, imo.

Home work will help you make a good decision. Personal opinion of others can be helpful but is often biased.
