Water spots..

I've been parking my E70 outside in the driveway lately and its been sprayed by the sprinklers, leaving water spots all over. Would using a clay bar get rid of them ??

Another question is if it would be a bad idea to wash my car myself if I have a water softener ? I figure its a bad idea but I just want to confirm.

First off, the water softener is a GOOD THING. That helps with spots a ton.

You should be able to get most or all of the spots out with some clay. If not you may need to step up to compound and a buffer.

Try the clay first. Then you must polish after to protect the paint. It dosen't matter what you use as long as it's something.

Also out of the sun for this.

I don't understand why I'm getting such deep water spots if the sprinklers go through the water softener. I have plenty of salt loaded, Any ideas ?

I don't think the sprinklers go through the water softener...at least that's how mine is setup. If it did, you'll be going through salt like there's no tomorrow.
