sorry be very busy with details/locating a new office/warehouse/ etc...

As for the running boards typically I clean them up, I don't do much as to dress it cause you have to step on it and you don't want anyone slipping on them.

As for metal you can try to polish them out with a metal polish.

Do you have a picture of them? I haven't run into much rust on running boards but let me try to figure out what would work.
Here are the pics. They are towards the back of running boards. Happened over winter.

Waiting for Phil to recommend something. Otherwise Mother's Mag polish, but still need to clean first.

thx. when my local bmw service center detailed my car a few years ago they used aluminum polish. made them look like new but i didnt have rust spots at that point.

yes you can try the mothers or even the p21s polishing soap.
