Thumbs up AUTOBAHN BMW REPAIR, LOUISVILLE KY

This Morning I had the pleasure of taking my 2003 X5, 3.0, 130k, to Autobahn BMW Repair in Louisville KY, This is definately the answer that I have been looking for in an Independent shop!! The Owner, Russell had great knowlege of BMW's as was the head Mech. Mark, They allowed me to sit in the garage and watch them and ask questions while they changed my oil, and did a basic maint. I inspection, they were really great to explain some of the little things and issues that I have been seeing/ hearing and thinking about how the X was running as well as helping me identify some things that I might want to have done in the future... it wasnt like "oh this looks horrible lets replace it now!!! oh and that will cost you... ...." they simply identified some things that looked in good order, and a few items I should start saving to get replaced..... Thier prices are WAY better than ANYONE in the area, it was a FEW HUNDRED $'s less than having it done at the local BMW dealer, Same service, less $$. Not to mention that they gave me an Active Duty Military Discount!! I could go on about how impressed I am with these guys, so if you have any questions feel free to PM me or whatever....

Always good to hear about a shop giving "fair value" - I will keep them in mind when passing thru that area - Thanks for the heads-up

Another Amazing Expirence

With the winter fast approaching I decided to address some minor maint. I started with a DIY, and replaced my FSR, (http://www.x5world.com/articles/x5/m...placement.html) It was a rather easy task, Great Write up!! with the FSR and my comfort addressed, I started thinking about the engine and what it could use before the "real" cold set in... With 133K and without any major issues that I have had to remedy up to this point, I knew that there was a thing or two that I would like to replace as a "preventative measure". With out hesitation I called the staff of "AUTOBAHN BMW REPAIR of LOUISVILLE" And we discussed possible items that usually cause problems especially with this mileage and the upcoming winter... The conclusion, to replace the Oil separator and hoses, (as I had noticed a slight build up of an orange "gunk" on the dip stick last winter, but no issues all summer) So we scheduled a separator replacement and for me to drop off the X first thing in the morning, and they arranged a rental for me... (being a small indy shop, they don't have loaners, but with an account at a near by rental car place they arranged for me a good deal on a rental) Once I arrived at the shop, I was greeted and we pulled the X into the bay to give her the once over, I mentioned a few minor things that I had notice and some things that I had read here on X5 World (http://www.x5world.com/x5-e53-forum/15435-high-pitched-whistle-when-you-accelerate-i-found-where-mine-coming.html?highlight=whistle+intake) as well as the best way to wire up my AE's, since I had installed my P53's, (whole nother issue here) I was hesitant to play with wires and end up getting in over my head, so I opted to wait to hook them up. anyway, off I went on my way with the X in the hands of some true proffesionals...
This morning I went back to pick up the X, right away I was taken into the shop so I could see first hand the work they had completed... to my suprise they had wired my AE's in a VERY clean OEM looking fashion,
DRL AE's!!! The also addressed the whistling noise that has been driving me crazy, !! (link above) They replace my separator, and did it all in a very clean fashion... They also took the time to look into the freezing door lock issue that alot of us are familiar with, since I did not ask them to replace the latch, they used a "home remedy" and we will see if it works, but hey it is worth a try, I am not out anything...
Along with the scheduled maintanence and they things they fixed "just because it was the right thing to do", they identified some things that I should look to replace in the future and gave me some great advice.
All in all, every time I have done business with the guys at Autobahn, I am simply impressed by the outstanding customer service, and the true passion that they have about BMW's and the enthusiasts that drive them! and not that you could top all that but they are absolutely the the best priced shop that I have found within traveling distance of Louisville, so that along with better quality and friendlier service than that I have recieved at the major dealer or anywhere for that matter! Thank you Autobahn for breaking the rule of "You get what you pay for", the services you provide are truely priceless.
To anyone who is looking for a BMW or Mercedes independant shop, Autobahn is definately worth a try.

Regards,
Zac

FWIW, I am not on thier payroll, and I dont campaign for them, I am simply in the business of supporting those few great Americans and thier businesses, who support those who serve, and conduct their businesses with a passion for service and honesty.
